송중기 또한 "저를 사랑해주시고 아껴주시는 많은 분들께 좋지 않은 소식을 전해드리게 되어 죄송하다는 말씀을 먼저 전합니다"라며 "저는 송혜교 씨와의 이혼을 위한 조정절차를 진행하게 되었습니다. 두 사람 모두 잘잘못을 따져가며 서로를 비난하기보다는 원만하게 이혼절차를 마무리하기를 희망하고 있습니다"라고 전했다.

이어 송중기는 "사생활에 대한 이야기들을 하나하나 말씀드리기 어려운 점 양해 부탁드리고, 앞으로 저는 지금의 상처에서 벗어나 연기자로서 작품 활동에 최선을 다하여 좋은 작품으로 보답하도록 하겠습니다"라고 말을 맺었다. 

한편, 지난 2월 시나연예 등 다수의 중국 매체들은 송혜교와 송중기 부부의 이혼설에 대해 앞다퉈 보도했다. 

해당 매체들은 송혜교가 최근 결혼 반지를 끼지 않은 것과 송중기의 사진을 삭제했다는 걸 근거 삼아 이혼 의혹을 제기했다.
