Japan 5.5 scale earthquake occurred near Tokyo 日 도쿄 인근서 규모 5.5 지진 발생

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake near Tokyo occurred in Niigata Prefecture six days after an earthquake struck.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency on Tuesday, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake near Chiba Prefecture, Japan, occurred at 9:11 am (local time). The epicenter is said to be 60km deep in the southeast of Chiba Prefecture. The Meteorological Agency said there was no concern about the tsunami caused by the quake.

The earthquake caused vibrations of maximum magnitude 4 in central Tokyo and Chiba prefecture.

A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Niigata Prefecture earlier this month. The earthquake caused 21 people to be injured in nearby areas, some buildings collapsing and landslides.

일본 니가타현에서 지진이 발생한 지 6일 만에 도쿄 인근에서 규모 5.5의 지진이 발생했다. 

24일 일본 기상청에 따르면 오전 9시 11분(현지시간) 일본 지바현 근처에서 규모 5.5의 지진이 발생했다. 진앙은 지바현 남동쪽 깊이 60km 해역이라고 밝혔다. 기상청은 이번 지진으로 인한 쓰나미(지진해일) 우려는 없다고 전했다. 

이 지진으로 도쿄 중심부, 지바현 등에서 최대 진도 4의 진동이 관측됐다. 

앞서 지난 18일 일본 니가타현 앞바다에서 규모 6.7의 지진이 발생했다. 이 지진으로 인근 지역에서 21명이 다치고 일부 건물 붕괴와 산사태가 발생했다.
